About Me

I'm Emily Smith, a freelance copy editor living in the Boston suburbs. Before starting my own business, I worked as an editor for a non-profit organization in Washington, D.C., and volunteered as a copy editor for a local weekly newspaper. Prior to my editing career, I was a practicing litigation attorney in the New York metro area. I earned my B.A. from Brandeis University and J.D. from Cornell Law School.

For the past five years, I served as an ESOL tutor with Literacy Volunteers of the New River Valley. I love learning new things about the English language and passing on my knowledge to others. I also love birds, my husband, and the serial comma. (But if you tell me not to use the serial comma, I won't. I promise!)
